Job Descriptions and Duties – The Perfect Job, Part 2

You knew you were perfect for that job, but you didn’t get it. What happened? Maybe the person that was hired was more experienced or a better candidate for the job. While that may be a possibility, there are some steps you can take that could keep that perfect job from slipping through your fingers.

The first thing you should realize is that having a great resume and cover letter is no longer enough to guarantee a great job. Job searchers must become experts at courting the company you’d like to work for. You must build a relationship with the people in charge of the hiring, the management team or use advanced resume tools to attract their attention. Another more recent avenue is using professional social media tools such as LinkedIn. You must take proactive steps to ensure that you are not overlooked. It will take time and patience, but the effort is likely to be rewarding. In part 3, we are going to look at some of the tricks that the job search professionals use to land that perfect job.
